Yes, but you have to meet other requirements. If you have an F-1 visa and have been offered an on-campus job, you need a job offer letter and a letter from your school’s Designated School Officer (DSO) in order to apply for a Social Security Number. If you have an off-campus job, you need your I-20 form and a letter from your employee. If you are on OPT, you need your I-20 form and a valid EAD card in order to apply.
